Who is ASPEA?

ASPEA (stands for Assosiação Portuguesa de Educação Ambiental) is a Non Governmental Organization in the field of Environmental Education, both formal and informal, founded in 1990. ASPEA is active through various different actions, such as: 

-an anual conference for teachers and other practicioners interested in Environmental Education

-seminars and education training courses for teachers and monitors of the environment

-school networks, fostering the national and international collaboration

-development of educational resources 

-organization of outdoors activities and summer programs for children and teenagers

-collaboration with political authorities 

-dissemination of the above activities and environmental education in specialized magazines and through actions of communication and participation- in national and international conferences

-issue of monthly bulletin

The Portuguese League of Associations in Defence of the Environment awarded to ASPEA a Mention of Honor of the National Prize of the Envrironment "Fernando Perreira", 2003/2004 for standing out in its actions as a "friend of the environment". 

ASPEA has 4 headquarters: Lisbon (national headquarter), Aveiro, Açores and Viseu
